Luke 11:42-46
The Lord said: "Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others. Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces. Woe to you! You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk."
Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, "Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too." And he said, "Woe also to you scholars of the law! You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yourselves do not lift one finger to touch them."

Today's prayer intention is for those in oppressive situations, that they may always remember that their dignity is from and through Our Lord.
As I was looking for a prayer intention today, I came across an article that featured text from Cardinal Emmanuel III Delly on the situation in Iraq:

"Living the word of God for us means bearing witness even at the cost of our own lives, as has taken place and is still happening with the sacrifice of bishops, priests, and faithful. They remain in Iraq, strong in faith and love of Christ, thanks to the fire of the word of God. For this reason, I beg you to pray for us and with us to the Lord Jesus, the Word of God, and to share our concerns, our hopes, and the pain of our wounds, so that the Word of God made flesh may remain in his Church and with us as good news and as support. Sixteen of our priests and two of our bishops have been kidnapped and released after an extremely high ransom. Some of them belong to the ranks of the new martyrs who today pray for us in heaven: the archbishop of Mosul, Faraj Rahho, Fr. Raghid Ganni, two other priests, and six more young men."

It made me think about today's reading and the responsibility we all have. Instead of separating ourselves, let us share in the responsibility of acting with mercy with Our Lord Who is merciful.
Please pray for those who are suffering at this time from acts of violence, from war torn areas to children in the womb. Let us unify our prayers to those who are in need of them through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Take care and God Bless.
