Matthew 10: 7-15

Jesus said to his Apostles: "As you go, make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give. Do not take gold or silver or copper for your belts; no sack for the journey, or a second tunic, or sandals, or walking stick. The laborer deserves his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, look for a worthy person in it, and stay there until you leave. As you enter a house, wish it peace. If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; if not, let your peace return to you. Whoever will not receive you or listen to your words go outside that house or town and shake the dust from your feet. Amen, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are homeless curing these brutal summer months.

When I leave the house, I always check to make sure I have all the things I normally bring. Cell phone ... check. Wallet ... check. iPod ... check. Keys ... check. It's a ritual I go through every morning before I leave the house.

What if Christ were to ask you to leave the house without the things that you normally have on you when you go? I know for me, if God asked me to leave my cell phone behind and participate in His work, I would silently protest in my mind. After all, what am I going to do if something happens to me? What am I going to do when someone needs to get a hold of me? What am I going to do when I have some time to kill. ( ... you get the picture.)
Sure, our world has changed dramatically, but one thing still remains the same: our need to rely on God alone. It is the work of The Lord that we are doing and He shall provide us with what we need.

Everyday we have an opportunity to proclaim that Christ is among us and that the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Do not fear because you do not have a projector for your laptop. Do not fear because you may feel ill-equipped to show others that the kingdom of heaven is here. Do not fear, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Christ is risen and alive, and He will provide for us as a good and just employer provides for His company. He'll give us everything we need, and we don't even have to turn in the receipts.

Take care and God Bless
