Thursday in the Second Week of Advent
Matthew 11:11-15

Jesus said to the crowds: "Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John the Baptist; yet the least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force. All the prophets and the law prophesied up to the time of John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, the one who is to come. Whoever has ears ought to hear."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for your loved ones who are suffering from illness, for healing and comfort.

Reflecting on today's reading, I decided to look and see what John the Baptist had to say ...

"I am 'the voice of one crying out in the desert, "Make straight the way of the Lord,"' as Isaiah the prophet said."

The path that I am looking at isn't very straight. There are areas where the road turns dramatically. There are areas in the road that go the opposite direction.

When I hear words like "the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent are taking it by force," it reminds me that we are in a battle. The battle is for our souls, and John the Baptist is crying out in the desert where I am at. He is calling out to me, and to all of us, to "make straight the path for The Lord."

Today, he calls to us and proclaims The Christ is among us, just as he did in the womb. Let us do what we can to make straight the paths for Our Lord. Take care and God Bless.
