Matthew 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are expecting.

4:00 am. I sat in front of my journal, unable to sleep.

As I journal, I reveal to God my confusions, my shortcomings, and my resolve. Have I lost my "taste" or have I lost my desire to be Christ's light?

4:20 am. I arise from the kitchen table, journal in hand.

I just wrote about how I have built up walls in my own life. Be a light to the world? I can't even be myself beyond the walls of my own house. Be a light of the world? I can't even love my neighbor as I know I should.

There was a lot of fear that was written in that journal this morning, but in the end, there was the desire to live the "paradoxical life" we are called to live. There was the desire to glorify God through the submission of my will.

Lord, I desire to glorify You
as a lantern showing Your flame
which illuminates the darkness.
Without You, I illuminate nothing.
With You, I can bring Your light to the nations.
Lord, may I glorify You this day.

Take care and God Bless.
