Mark 7:14-23

Jesus summoned the crowd again and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand. Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile."

When he got home away from the crowd his disciples questioned him about the parable. He said to them, "Are even you likewise without understanding? Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?" (Thus he declared all foods clean.) "But what comes out of the man, that is what defiles him. From within the man, from his heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from depression.

It's humbling to think that we are all capable of great things. It is equally humbling to know that we are all capable of doing great evil.

I know that I never really think about doing evil, but there are those times when I turn what is important upside down. When I drive, I can be careless at times and place my need to get to my destination before my need to be a good steward of the lives of God's children around me. When I am stressed, I tend to consume more food than what is truly healthy for me.

Thankfully God's grace has a way of calling me. For as bad as I am capable of being, God's grace and mercy is much greater. For as good as I am capable of being, God's love and forgiveness can never be outdone.

Praise God for His greatness .. Praise God for my littleness. Take care and God Bless.
