Tuesday in the Second Week of Easter
John 14: 6-14

Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for healing for those who have been affected by 9-11.

The is a song by a Catholic songwriter, Danielle Rose, that starts off, "I thought I'd be heroic and inspiring." I think deep down, we all had thoughts of doing great things with our lives.

I used to think about being a great artist and I would practice my illustration skills whenever I had a chance.

As an adult, I used to think about being a great songwriter and I would practice playing the guitar in the late hours of the night after my day was done.

As of 30 seconds ago, I am not the illustrator I thought I would have been, and I am not the songwriter I thought I would be. In fact, right now, I am spending most of my time hoping to become good enough to kill a fly that has been bothering me for the past hour.

To think about Christ inviting us to participate in His work is a much different way to think. After all, there is no way that we can spend every waking moment practicing submitting our will. Or is there a way?

What if every act in our daily lives was a recognition of the participation we have in doing the Father's will? What if every act in our daily lives was an opportunity for "communion" with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?

"... whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father."

Wouldn't our daily routines be sanctified if we accepted that every act that we do is an opportunity for communion with God? Wouldn't the "difficult things" we have to do become lighter burdens because they are no longer ours alone?

Let us then ask with complete faith in the Holy and Precious Name of Jesus, to open our hearts to wide to Him, so that we may live our daily lives not afraid.

Lord Jesus, enter into the parts of my life that is mundane ...
the parts of my life that are difficult to get through ...
the parts of my life that I have neglected.
Help me to recognize that I participate
in Your works as I do the dishes ...
as I forgive uncharitable drivers on the road ...
as I speak words that challenge
and affirm the dignity of Your children
who choose not to live in the dignity they have in You.
Lord, be the Way and the Truth and the Life in my own life.
Lead us to The Father in Whom You are united to.
I ask this in Your most holy name. Amen.

Take care and God Bless.
