Matthew 12:38-42

Some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Jesus, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you." He said to them in reply, "An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of Glen Yadao, and for comfort for his family.

YouTube. MySpace/Facebook. Blogs. Podcasts. Txt msg. Our culture has an obsession with the "in" thing.

If there was no resurrection, would Jesus Christ have been just another "in" thing? Possibly.

Our faith is not just another "in" thing. It is something that should call us to strive for more than the "societal norms" that are always before us. The evil one can use many things to distract us from Our Lord, including striving for being relevant. We live in a society where it is more desirable to be relevant and effective versus being faithful and obedient.

The Pharisees were more concerned with what Jesus could do versus Who He was. We are that way today when it comes to God and when it comes to our interactions with others. How many of you feel like you have to strive for the world's standards in order to be accepted? How many of you feel like it's more important to be relevant than to be obedient? Today, don't strive for what's "in"... strive for what's eternal. Take care and God Bless.
