Matthew 8:23-27

As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by waves; but he was asleep. They came and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" He said to them, "Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was great calm. The men were amazed and said, "What sort of man is this, whom even the winds and the sea obey?"

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

Yesterday's reflection went out, but there was technical issues involved with the mail server. I apologize for this error.

I grew up in Hawaii, and the summer before I left, I tried to make sure that I enjoyed as much time at the beach as I could.

One day, while I was body surfing at a beach called Makapu'u, I was hit hard by a wave and I didn't know which way was up or which way was down. The only thing I remember was the prayer I made at that moment: please, Lord, bring me back to the shore.

I remember washing up on the beach with my legs in the air. He brought me back.

When I read about the disciples prayer today, I know the prayer that they are making, and it's a prayer that I often have to make even today. At times, I don't know which way is the truth and which way is the lie. At times, the shore seems so far away.

Yet, God is there... God is there... God is there...

If you are facing something that is confusing for you, turn to prayer... turn to the scriptures... turn to the sacraments... Turn to Christ Who longs to lead you home to heaven. Take care and God Bless.
