Matthew 13:1-9

On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: "A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who will be affected by Hurricane Dolly. Also, for a safe flight for my parents as they leave for Las Vegas tomorrow morning.

When it comes to playing the guitar, I choose to receive it like rich soil. I want to learn and get better at it.

On the opposite end, when it comes to managing my finances, I'm more like soil that's not deep versus rich soil.

I notice that in my own life, what I nurture tends to bear fruit, while the things I get excited about and then lose interest in seem to die out quickly. I say this as I look at my bike which I hasn't hit the asphalt in a week.

I knew that the hardest step is getting out of the door. Even when the temperature was 115 degrees outside, I knew that the only thing I needed to do was get on the bike and ride (oh, and make sure I have water). After that, everything falls into place.

Praise God for your faithfulness to Him. I know that over the past few weeks things have been spotty. I've been traveling a lot and some days it's hard to get these readings out. It's good to know that you have taken the first step in getting out of the door.

May the Word we receive daily nourish our lives so that we may bear His fruit. Take care and God Bless.
