Matthew 8:18-22

When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other shore. A scribe approached and said to him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But Jesus answered him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a special intention.

In a week, a friend of mine is going to pack up everything she has left into her car. Her fiance, who is also a good friend of mine, is going to fly into town and he's going to drive with her back to where he lives now, in Steubenville, Ohio.

She's leaving a lot behind and venturing into something that is unknown for her. She has a good job out here in Phoenix. She hasn't been able to find a job yet there. She has a parish she loves here, friends who she trusts here, and many more things that are unknown in Steubenville.

When Christ call us, there are a lot of "unknowns" that we are faced with. There are going to be people we love that we may have to leave behind. There are going to be times when we have to give up comforts in order to be purified so that we can love God more. There are going to be times when we will feel abandoned.

It is the theological virtues that drive us: faith, hope, and love. Let us cling to these virtues so that we can follow Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into the unknown. Take care and God Bless.
