Matthew 19:23-30

Jesus said to his disciples: "Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of heaven. Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God." When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, "Who then can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "For men this is impossible, but for God all things are possible." Then Peter said to him in reply, "We have given up everything and followed you. What will there be for us?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you that you who have followed me, in the new age, when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory, will yourselves sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more, and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the Diocese of St. Louis, that The Lord may provide a bishop for them.

"Riches are an obstacle to entering the kingdom that cannot be overcome by human power." - NAB Commentary

My condo is a mess as I type this. I have been searching for a checkbook that I needed for my records, and in order to find it, I basically turned my who condo into a disaster area with clothes and paperwork all over the floor.

It's amazing how when you're looking through old things, you see things that trigger memories in your head. I looked through pictures, I found artwork that I've worked on when I was actually doing artwork, and more things that just accumulate over time.

Then I realized: there are so many things that I'm holding on to. These physical things are just an outward sign of what the things I hold onto, from past grudges to things I haven't touched in years. Things that could be used by others versus sitting in my closet.

So, Lord, my prayer to you this day is this: help me to let go of the things that will hold me back from getting into heaven. I know that nothing is impossible for you, and I have already experienced Your grace in my life. Lord, continue Your work in me so that I may be holy so that I may one day be with You in heaven. I ask this through Christ, My Lord and My God, Amen.

Take care and God Bless.
