Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those affected by the earthquake in Hawaii.

Burning bushes.

We can spend an eternity waiting for a burning bush to tell us how to live. I imagine that if a burning bush said to the people, "The kingdom is at hand," everyone would be bent down in worship.

I can't remember the last time a burning bush talked to me. I do know that a burning bush talked to Moses. I do know that in today's reading, Jesus is addressing the people. I do know that the words found in scripture are not given to me as a gift from God.

We can spend all our lives waiting to hear the voice of God through a burning bush. We can spend all our lives avoiding God's will until a big fish swallows us. We can spend our lives trying to find God in things out of the ordinary, which is how a lot of people would want God to address them.

We can wait for God to meet us on our own terms, but He came down not to please us but to save us. There truly is something greater than Jonah here. Take care and God Bless.
