Luke 6: 12-19

Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve, whom he also named Apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called a Zealot, and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

And he came down with them and stood on a stretch of level ground. A great crowd of his disciples and a large number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases; and even those who were tormented by unclean spirits were cured. Everyone in the crowd sought to touch him because power came forth from him and healed them all.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who marriages are struggling at this time.

"Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God ... "

When Jesus came back, He called His disciples. He called Peter, who would deny Him three times. He called James and John, who wanted to argue about who is greater. He called Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

A lot of times, it seems that hindsight sheds light on the prayer that I have prayed. When I look at the paths that God has led me down, many times I feel like I'm looking at a trail that is less than anointed. Rarely has it seemed like the easy path.

Yet, beyond the bickering and denial came 11 Saints ... 11 pillars of the Church ... 11 who brought the faith to all nations. For as imperfect as they were, they were also the ones chosen by God, along with Judas Iscariot.

It is easy to fall into discouragement when you try to follow God's will and all you see a path that is less than perfect. Take courage and trust that God desires you. Do not be like so many who have turned from His merciful ways because the road looks difficult. Take courage and trust that His ways is His invitation to be in union with Him, Our Lord Who suffered, died, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of The Father.

Take care and God Bless.
