Wednesday in the First Week of Lent
Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those affected by the cold weather of the northest.

As I went to look for news for me to put as today's prayer intention, I noticed something disturbing: Paris Hilton's brother was arrested for DUI.

What was disturbing to me was how this made the headlines.

Yet, the news thinks that this is important, and they can track the clicks to see just how important people think it is.

It makes me wonder my own life. What am I placing more importance in than Christ? Is it the trading of Shaq to the Suns for Shawn Marion? Is it the listing of a $10,000 guitar for $5,000? Is it the petty things that I hold on to?

Our souls are more important to us than we give attention to. Sometimes we take that for granted, but we shouldn't, for it is our souls that are at stake. There is something greater than sensationalized news here, and His name is Jesus. Let us reflect that in our actions and our work this day.

Take care and God Bless.
