Matthew 10: 1-7

Jesus summoned his Twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness. The names of the Twelve Apostles are these: first, Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus; Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus.

Jesus sent out these Twelve after instructing them thus, "Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, make this proclamation: 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.'"

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the brother of a friend of mine who is sick at this time.

"This is hope founded on Christ's coming and ultimately coincides with his Person and his mystery of salvation - where Christ is, there is the Kingdom of God ..." - Pope Benedict XVI

In the parables, Christ likened Himself to the shepherd that leaves the 99 sheep behind in order to go after one lost sheep.

With that in mind, how amazing is today's reading? The Apostles have a participation in the work of Christ. We too share in the work of Christ.

In today's world, it is easy to lose sight of the role of the work we participate in. Yet, in humility, we can come to understand that the work we do is not our own. The work we do is The Lord's. What dignity it brings to the labor that we participate in?

Today, let us view all things entrusted to us a participation in the work of Christ, constantly proclaiming through our thoughts, words and actions, that Christ is among us ... the Kingdom of Heaven is truly at hand. Amen!

Take care and God Bless.
