Friday after Ash Wednesday
Matthew 9:14-15

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast much, but your disciples do not fast?" Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for chastity to be nurtured and encouraged in teens and young adults.

From the outside, the world sees:

- Sales of coffee, soda and fast food have gone down
- Fish sandwiches and taco sales are up
- More people are driving around in their cars with no radio

As they look at this strange trend that seems to occur in the springtime and ends on Easter, do they see what's going on inside? Do they see people who recognize that they are in need of God's healing and grace? Do they see people who are "building up" their dependence of God's mercy and abundance?

As we continue to prepare our hearts, let us remember the mourning of our souls that ache for God, and in our fast, let us remember the beatitude: "Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted." Take care and God Bless.
