Feast of the Exaltation of The Cross (Post 1000)
John 3:13-17

Jesus said to Nicodemus: "No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who suffer from depression.

Today is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

God so loved the world that He gave us His Son, Jesus. He watched His Son die on a cross at the hands of His creation so that we may be saved.

He withheld Himself for our freedom.

We are also called to make sacrifices. As someone who is pre-diabetic, I have to always remember to watch what I eat. I have to watch how I drive on the roads so that I don't endanger the lives of others.

Christ, in accepting the cross, "emptied Himself" as St. Paul tells us in His letter to the Philipians.

Today, as we celebrate the beautiful cross, let us give thanks to God through bearing our own sufferings as an act of love. Take care and God Bless.

(Quick note: today is a great milestone - 1,000 posts! Well, there were others, but since the actual "Dawg's thought" Web site has been up, this is the 1,000th post. For those of you who don't know, it started out even before I had the internet as I would leave floppy disks for a friend of mine who desired to know more about Catholicism. Then I got email and sent them to friends, and now it's a Web site. Thank you all so much for allowing me to serve. I guess this is a not so quick note.)
