Matthew 13:54-58

Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?" And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house." And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to Planned Parenthood.

I was in a spiritual desert for a long time. Part of what I experienced in that desert was the thought of, "that's just the way God works." I didn't work on my prayer life. Instead, I stuck with what was "status quo" instead of striving for better.

In a way, my heart was hardened like those in today's reading. My heart was hardened because I thought that I knew and did everything I thought I had to do to be holy, which was a flat out lie. I was lying to myself thinking that there was nothing more I could do. The people in today's reading was lying to themselves in thinking that Jesus had nothing to offer to them.

He does.

If your life has become a pattern, ask for His grace so that we may not deny Him with hardened hearts. Rather, let us welcome Him in so that He can work miracles in us. Take care and God Bless.
