Wednesday in the Third Week of Easter
John 14:6-14

Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him." Philip said to him, "Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for safety for those who may be affected by the possible tsunami's in the South Pacific.

Today in the Catholic Church is the Feast of St. Philip and St. James.

I love looking at babies (after all, I was a staff member at a home for expectant mothers). Often times, people will tell the baby's mother, "he has your eyes" or "she has his nose." As they grow older, their personality comes out: "she has your love of music" or "he has your temper."

When Christ says in today's reading, "If you know me, then you will also know my Father," it makes me think. When others see me, do they see Christ? Do they see the God of mercy in me, or do they see my fears?

When I was a kid, I would help my dad fix the car. I wanted to learn the things that my dad did. I wanted to learn how to fix the car. I would help out whenever I could to help. I would ask questions about, "what are you doing now" or "why does this go here?" I spent time with him so that I could get to know him better.

If we want others to see Christ in us, we have to spend time with Him. Going to mass, adoration, reading the scriptures, prayers... all these things are good. What about the rest of your life? How about the work that you're doing now? Are you working with Him? Is He visible to those you are working with?

Take care and God Bless.
