Mark 7:31-37

Jesus left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man's ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, "Ephphatha!" (that is, "Be opened!") And immediately the man's ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, "He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those in government leadership roles, that they may make wise decisions guided by the Holy Spirit.

While I may not have any glaring physical shortcomings, there are areas where I would love for Christ to proclaim, "Be opened!"

Often times, I am locked in by my own memories ... especially my past failures. Those memories make me "stutter" in seeing who I am before God. Those memories "impede" my ability to love. Those memories make me "deaf" to the grace given by Our Lord.

Other times, I am locked in by my own expectations ... my own desires ... my own fears.

As I read today's reading, even though Christ tells everyone not to tell anyone, they couldn't contain God's hand at work. The miracles Christ performed glorified The Father.

Lord, proclaim "Be opened!" in those areas of my life
that impede my ability to love and to be loved by You.
I desire to glorify You alone
and, although I do not need to be healed to glorify You,
You healing can open my heart to truly give You glory.
I ask this through Your Holy Face that I desire to shine through me. Amen.

Take care and God Bless.
