Tuesday in the Second Week of Easter
John 3:7b-15

Jesus said to Nicodemus: "'You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicodemus answered and said to him, 'How can this happen?" Jesus answered and said to him, "You are the teacher of Israel and you do not understand this? Amen, amen, I say to you, we speak of what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you people do not accept our testimony. If I tell you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who lost their lives yesterday in the shooting at Virginia Tech, for the repose of their souls, and for comfort for their families.

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." - Hebrews 13:8

Christ offered His Body as a sacrifice for us. He did this through His sacrifice on the cross. He continues to do this today through The Eucharist.

"... so that everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life."

We all hope for the resurrection, when our souls will be united with our glorified bodies at the end of time.

We must always keep in mind that it was through Christ's sacrifice that we have the gift of eternal life. We must always keep in mind that through our own acceptance of the "reproaches" given to us by The Father, thus rejecting the comfort of the slavery to sin, we choose to hope in the resurrection. This hope is a participation of our total person: body and soul.

Today, let us give thanks to God for His sacrifice through our own sacrifice in rejecting the lures of sin for the sake of the Kingdom of God. Take care and God Bless.
