Friday in the Fourth Week of Lent
John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30

Jesus moved about within Galilee; he did not wish to travel in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill him. But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.

Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, "Is he not the one they are trying to kill? And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him. Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ? But we know where he is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from." So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said, "You know me and also know where I am from. Yet I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me." So they tried to arrest him, but no one laid a hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to the use of contraception and abortion.

Christ proclaims Who He is without hesitation because in response to the questions in the hearts of the inhabitants.

What is our response to who we are as Christians?

Unfortunately for me, there is great room for improvement. I'm fine with being a Christian when someone asks the question, but I often sit in silence when my faith is tested most.

For you who place peace before truth, today's reading is for you (and me).

As I read through today's reading, I was reminded that God will take care of us and so we should never fear the truth. This reality came to light upon reading the words, "no one laid a hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come." This is great news for us indeed because it reminds us that God will provide for us in the light of proclaiming the truth. That is a freedom that God wants for us! He doesn't want us to remain in fear for He didn't, and He knew what they wanted to do with Him.

In our everyday struggles, let us recall God's faithfulness found throughout scripture and found throughout our lives. Recall the times when God has been faithful to you so that you can proclaim the truth when your faith is tested most. Take care and God Bless.
