Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul
2 Timothy 4:6-8, 17-18

I, Paul, am already being poured out like a libation,
and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have competed well; I have finished the race;
I have kept the faith.
From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me,
which the Lord, the just judge,
will award to me on that day, and not only to me,
but to all who have longed for his appearance.

The Lord stood by me and gave me strength,
so that through me the proclamation might be completed
and all the Gentiles might hear it.
And I was rescued from the lion's mouth.
The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat
and will bring me safe to his heavenly Kingdom.
To him be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are unemployed.

As the Year of St. Paul comes to an end, I am grateful for this ministry which keeps me accountable to sharing the Gospel message.

I am also grateful for those examples in my life who remind me that "The Lord stands by me and gives me strength." I have had many great examples of this: a mother who still lived out the Gospel even though she was going through a rough time in chemotherapy ... a Somalian man who radiated Christ's love, even though he endured attempts on his life for his faith ... a priest who is unafraid to challenge others by calling them out to be "liars" if they are not steadfast in upholding the dignity of our faith, including issues on life and marriage ...

When I read the Acts of the Apostles, it's amazing how unafraid St. Paul was. It makes so much sense to read St. Paul's testimony and discover why he was so unafraid.

If we lived out lives knowing that "The Lord will rescue me from every evil threat" and that "He will bring me safe to his heavenly Kingdom", how much more could we surrender our lives over for His glory?

"Imagine there's not heaven?" No thanks, I don't want to. I need to know that there is a heaven and that Christ desires for me and for everyone to be there in that glorious kingdom. The hope of heaven frees me, and I pray that the hope of heaven frees you as well, to live a life that others will see and know that there is a God, let alone letting other's know how good God is.

Christ tells us many times in the Gospels, "Do not fear." May we take in St. Paul's testimony today to remind us that through Christ, we have no reason to fear. Take care and God Bless.
