Luke 11:29-32

While still more people gathered in the crowd, Jesus said to them, "This generation is an evil generation; it seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it, except the sign of Jonah. Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment the queen of the south will rise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because at the preaching of Jonah they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are unemployed.

Lately I've been thinking about how much God wants to give us good things in our lives and how we reject His gifts.

I have been guilty of this many times over because of my own expectations of what and how God should provide.

In a way, I'm asking God for a sign, just like the crowd gathered in today's reading.

So, Lord, I come before You asking to remove any expectations in my heart that hold me back from being holy. I know, Lord, that in your provision You take things from us in order to sanctify us. Lord, through Your passion, death and resurrection, may I aspire to live a life desiring eternal union with You in heaven. Amen.

Take care and God Bless.
