Matthew 11: 20-24

Jesus began to reproach the towns where most of his mighty deeds had been done, since they had not repented. "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum: 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the nether world.' For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for an end to abortion and the use of contraception.

Jesus came because of our sins.

We know of the great things that Jesus did. We know of the great things the Saints did in Jesus' name. We have scripture readings recounting great miracles, and stories and writings that bring to light the awesome power of God working in ordinary human persons.

Yet, it is so easy, in the midst of great blessings, to remember that I sin. I love hearing great stories and finding out about great theology, yet it often times takes great priority before knowing God's ways so that I can know how I offend Him. All the great theology my mind can take in would mean nothing if it didn't move my heart to repent of my sins.

I often wonder if I seek perfection too much in how I can do great things for the Lord versus seeking perfection through Christ's desire to forgive me of my sins?

O my God, I am heartily sorry for
having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven,
and the pains of hell;
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
Who are all good and
deserving of all my love.

Take care and God Bless.
