Mark 6:53-56

After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there. As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak; and as many as touched it were healed.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those affected by the flood in Indonesia.

What brought the many to Jesus? Their brokenness. Their unworthiness. Their suffering.

They had faith in Jesus, and their faith was made real through their recognition of their brokenness. If The Father willed that we did not have a life of struggles, what would be the vehicle that brings us to Jesus? Where would the ache for Our Savior come from? Why would we seek God?

We can see it all around: people who choose not to see their brokenness as a gift. You see it in people's hidden lives of drugs, pornography, and eating disorders. You see it in the public lives of those living on credit to have the best cars, largest houses and "partying" extravagantly. We see it on television. We see it on billboards. We see it in our grocery stores.

Then again, do we really see it? Do we really see the suffering of our lives as something that pulls us into the awesomeness and greatness of The Creator? Do we see the pain we endure as something that draws us into the depths of Jesus' Most Sacred Heart? Do we see the vices we struggle with as the hinderance to God's grace working in our lives?

Come, those of you who are burdened. Through your wounds, Christ calls you. Take care and God Bless.
