Wednesday of the Second Week of Easter
John 3: 16-21

God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. And this is the verdict, that the light came into the world, but people preferred darkness to light, because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come toward the light, so that his works might not be exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be clearly seen as done in God.

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are suffering with cancer.

A few minutes ago, I tried typing a reflection for today with my eyes closed. There were a few words that were misspelled. I wasn't able to discern how to delete text so that I could rewrite something so I just used ellipses stating what my thought was. Probably the most challenging thing of all, though, was that I was spending more time trying to figure out how to type versus simply typing. My mind was occupied and it was difficult to enter into the mediation of today's reading.

It makes me wonder about how we can live with our eyes closed because we do not have the Light. How many mistakes (sins) remain are merely ellipse'd over because we were not willing to bring it to the Light?

Even when I have my eyes open, I make many mistakes. I wish I could count how many times I have hit the delete key every time I start writing one of these thoughts. Yet, because I can see, I know that I need help. Often times the little dotted line below a misspelled word is a reminder that I need to do a spell check.

God loves us and because of His great love for us, He gave us His only-begotten Son. He gave Himself so that we may have eternal life. It is a great statement that has been seen at countless sporting events (John 3: 16).

Yet, the story continues beyond this passage. We are invited to live in the Light, and sometimes living in the light means seeing our wrinkles and our scars. It means that sometimes we may find an infection that only the Divine Healer can heal. It means that sometimes we may not like the person that we see in the Light.

We may not like who we see illuminated in the Light of Christ, but we can rejoice that we are invited to live in the Truth and come to the Light. It is not our own beauty that we seek but the beauty of Our Lord.

May His beautiful rays reveal the hidden dignity and beauty He sees despite our own misconceptions of what we should see.

Take care and God Bless.

P.S. - Here's what I started to type with my eyes closed:

I am going to try my best to type this reflection with my eyes closed. I say this because as I was reflecting on today's reading I thought about light and darkness.

AS I know it, right now I am probablye doing okay on what I am typing. But, I don't really know what everything on the screen looks like. Also, I sometimens go back and do some edits as I type.

There are a lot f people who go through life trying to ... okay .... i have to try to correct this and I can't see how many times ihave to delete ... let's try this again ...

There are many people who try to go through life without the light ... the Light being Our Lord. They can prbably feel like they are doing okay but they can't really see the full picture. Also, right now, I am having a hard time entering into the reflection because I can't see. I thik I need to open my eyes for the rest of this reflection ...
