Matthew 7:6, 12-14

Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.

"Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.

"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for a solition to the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico.

By day, I am a web designer and developer, but my education was geared toward print design. When I was just out of college, I took a job at a coupon company, which was successful enough to take on a new product: a television guide for hotels and resorts.

With the new product, the salesperson did what she could to bring in money, and unfortunately the people who had money were often times "clubs" where women are objectified. It seemed like it was easy money ... the wide gate.

I wish I could tell you that I had a moral compass that spoke out against the injustice. Instead, I was more concerned about my paycheck and my ego (how I could design a better ad than the ones that they previously had). God gave me pearls, and I placed it before the swine.

It wasn't until later on that I realized that my talents are holy because they come from God. I took the broad road because I feared that God wouldn't provide for me. I entered the wide gate because I was scared that the gift given to me wasn't good enough so I had to prove it. God does not make mistakes, and the gifts that we have been given do not need to be proven.

A few years later, I was given the opportunity to work on an "adult" website and thankfully, I graciously turned it down. At the time, I had money and I lived off of whatever $0.99 special I could find. God provided for all my needs and gave me everything I needed along the constricted road.

You are holy because you are crafted by the Father Who is perfect. Your gifts are holy because they were given to you from the maker of the universe. Rejoice! Take care and God Bless.
