Matthew 24:42-51

Jesus said to his disciples: "Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.

"Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household to distribute to them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so. Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property. But if that wicked servant says to himself, 'My master is long delayed,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with drunkards, the servant's master will come on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for peace and recovery in Georgia.

I love it when a cop shows up all of a sudden and everyone on the freeway is driving right behind the officer. The red brake lights flash and everyone suddenly remembers what speed we're all suppose to be driving at.

Of course, if we were driving the speed limit, we wouldn't have to worry about break lights. If we weren't breaking the law, we wouldn't have to worry about getting caught.

It shouldn't take the threat of a consequence to be reminded that I'm a follower of Christ. One thing that I notice about kids is that they need something to help them reinforce what is good behavior. Tonight as I was baby-sitting for my friend's kids, I had to offer both consequences and rewards to make sure they went to bed.

Now, as I'm older, right now I want to go to bed because I know that it's good for me. I know that I need my rest in order for me to be able to enjoy God's gifts for me in my life.

I know it's the same way with following His ways in general. I know that there is a good to His ways, and if I can't experience it, I know I have to trust in God enough to know that His ways are right and true.

Yes, I am one of those guys who hits his brake-lights after seeing a police officer. I pray that I may be faithful in small tests so that I may practice virtue in larger ones. Take care and God Bless.
