Matthew 7: 1-5

Jesus said to his disciples: "Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for priests who have fallen away from their vocation.

This morning, when I looked at Catholic news, I saw the news regarding Fr. Corapi. Suddenly, I was caught in the trap: I was looking at the user comments on his latest video.

The comments ranged from accusations to offering prayers to appeals.

While it is a sad announcement, it should have never taken me away from knowing that we are all called to holiness. As such, it took me some time before I stopped reading the comments and started praying for him.

In praying for those we desire to pray for, let us always remember that we should be praying and striving for the same in us. If we are praying that a priest live the dignity of his vocation, isn't it a reminder that we have to be fully living the dignity of our own? If we are praying that a priest persevere in obedience, shouldn't we recognize that we need to pray for our own obedience in times of trial?

I don't know how many times I have prayed for the conversion of those I love, yet in a lot of ways, I have missed the point as well ... I should be mindful of my need for conversion as well.

Take care and God Bless.
