Matthew 7:1-5

Jesus said to his disciples: "Stop judging, that you may not be judged. For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove that splinter from your eye,' while the wooden beam is in your eye? You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother's eye."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to abortion and contraception.

There are those things that people do that get under my skin. For many of those things, if I were to look in the mirror, they are things that I am guilty of myself. In many of those cases, it's what I frequently confess in the sacrament of Reconciliation time and time again.

We know the truth, and I hope everyday that I'm doing my best to live according to The Truth. I know that I will fall short, and will continue to fall short, of His ways.

That doesn't stop me from recognizing right from wrong, but it does help me have compassion for each of us who struggle with everyday life. It also helps me write these reflections because we all have our "wooden beams" and it is God who gives us the grace to persevere, and it is God Who heals our injuries.

The sinfulness we struggle with should never be an obstacle to loving our neighbor as ourselves. Rather, let us turn to God, Whose mercy endures forever, and let us ask Him for the grace to love our neighbors better so that we can love our great and awesome Lord better.

Take care and God Bless.
