Matthew 15: 1-2, 10-14

Some Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, "Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They do not wash their hands when they eat a meal." He summoned the crowd and said to them, "Hear and understand. It is not what enters one's mouth that defiles the man; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one." Then his disciples approached and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees took offense when they heard what you said?" He said in reply, "Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone; they are blind guides of the blind. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.

There was a time when I was really strict about counting calories. I never liked the idea of diets, although I did try the Atkins diet once. Counting what was "going in" was something I did to try to get healthy.

After counting calories for a few months, there was a disposition inside that seemed to be changed. So much so that it made being rigorous about counting calories irrelevant. Internally, I was healthier and it overflowed into other areas of my life.

I needed a guide to help me know how many calories I was taking in. When I saw that, I was able to see how unhealthy my choices were; I could see how I could make the right choices to be healthy.

Accountability is a great thing, and we should be thankful to Our Lord for His commands and for instituting the Church as His authority on earth.

Take care and God Bless.
