Luke 17:7-10

Jesus said to the Apostles: "Who among you would say to your servant who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field, 'Come here immediately and take your place at table'? Would he not rather say to him, 'Prepare something for me to eat. Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink. You may eat and drink when I am finished'? Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded? So should it be with you. When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'"

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of P.I. Joseph.

Comedian Chris Rock has a bit in his routine. He grew tired of people saying "I have been out of jail for 6 months" or "I work hard to feed my family." His response: "You're suppose to stay out of jail ... You're suppose to work hard to feed your family."

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve, but at times I take an "entitlement" attitude with God ...

"I'm trying to do Your will, Lord. The least You can do is *insert irrational request here*!"

I have a lot of moments when I feel like serving Our Lord warrants some great reward or some great triumph. After all, it's tough to see treasure being built up in heaven.

Yet, as I write today's reflection, I am thankful for the great reward that I have been given. This faith that we have and share rewards obedience with freedom. The have the freedom to serve a loving and merciful Master.

Thank You, Lord, for the great gifts of faith, hope and love, through which we are free to serve You. Take care and God Bless.
