Matthew 18: 1-5, 10, 12-14

The disciples approached Jesus and said, "Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?" He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, "Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father. What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the long absence.

It's easy to struggle with perfectionism; I should know. So much so that I have often made bad choices. Isn't it ironic that in my blindness in thinking that I had to be perfect, I really was being imperfect. In fact, imperfect to the point of "denying the Holy Spirit".

In my own way, perfectionism leads me to follow my own path, which often leads to being a "lost sheep".

It's one thing to do all the right things and seek perfection in that. I have been doing that for a long time. It's another to be a child before God when attending Mass ... in praying devotions ... in making an honest confession. It's another to be a humble child.

It's one thing to be able to talk about all the injustice that is going on in today's world, from abortion to the persecution of the Church around the world. It's another to offer our prayers and trust that God is doing His work, even though our eyes cannot see it. It's another to let our acts be acts of mercy versus acts of pride.

God rejoices in us ... God rejoices in you. Humbly trust in this and turn to Him Who is perfect. Take care and God Bless.
