Monday in the Octave of Easter
Matthew 28:8-15

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went away quickly from the tomb, fearful yet overjoyed, and ran to announce the news to his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them on their way and greeted them. They approached, embraced his feet, and did him homage. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me."

While they were going, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had happened. The chief priests assembled with the elders and took counsel; then they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, telling them, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole him while we were asleep.' And if this gets to the ears of the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble." The soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has circulated among the Jews to the present day.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end the drug culture that has claimed many lives through addiction and violence.

Happy Easter to all of you who are participants and witnesses of The Resurrection! He is risen, alleluia!

In today's reading, we hear of two sides of Christ's resurrection: those who accept Christ's resurrection and is filled with joy and those who deny His resurrection and are filled with fear. Fear that they were wrong. Fear that a resurrected Christ could mean that their lives would be changed forever. Maybe they weren't ready for that. Are we?

Are we ready to accept what it means that Christ rose from the dead? Are we ready to see that our lives point not only the glory of heaven, but also the need for us to die to ourselves? Are we ready to participate fully with the baptismal promises we have made, for as the Catechism says:

"United with Christ in baptism, believers already truly participate in the heavenly life of the risen Christ."

Today, as we continue on this journey rejoicing in the Risen Christ, let us take some time from our day to meditate on the baptismal promises:

- Do you reject Satan?

- And all his works?

- And all his empty promises?

- Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth?

- Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?

- Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?

Take care and God Bless.
