Mark 1:14-20

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God: "This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." As he passed by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting their nets into the sea; they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men." Then they left their nets and followed him. He walked along a little farther and saw James, the son of Zebedee, and his brother John. They too were in a boat mending their nets. Then he called them. So they left their father Zebedee in the boat along with the hired men and followed him.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a restoration of the dignity of marriage as a union of one man and one woman.

In the movie "The Matrix", the main character was faced with a decision to make. Take one pill and he will discover life behind all that he sees. Take the other pill and he will forget everything and go back to a life of not-knowing.

I feel like I have an unlimited prescription.

I wonder what the disciples must have felt when Christ called to them. We may not know what they thought, but we know how they responded. We may not know if they agonized over which pill to take, but we do know what pill they chose. That pill ultimately led most of them, except for John and Judas, to martyrdom.

We do know many Saints who took the pill that opened their eyes. Many of them were humbled by a great conversion. Others knew the Truth early and died holding on to it.

I hope that at the end of our lives, we will be standing among those who have chosen to live a life beyond the mediocre, safe life of denying our call to holiness. May Our Lord guide our actions and thoughts today. Take care and God Bless.
