Wednesday in the Fifth Week of Easter
John 15: 1-18

Jesus said to his disciples: "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are traveling.

There is a great misconception that I used to believe. I used to think that because of my faith, my life would be easy. I used to think that because of Jesus Christ, I would never have to face hardships or go without.

I thought that the branches would always be fruitful. I thought that every time I sat down and wrote these reflections, there would be some great inspiration that would bear much fruit in me. I used to think that whenever I gave myself to some ministry, or whenever I tithed, I would never face financial hardships.

Unfortunately, I found that I experienced something closer to "pruning" than bearing fruit.

Yet, I know that if God decides to take the job away that I grew comfortable in, there is an opportunity to be in union with Him, but through my need for Him and through my uniting myself to His suffering. It is a fruit that is much sweeter than fruit that is malnourished because it has too many leaves.

Let us praise God for how He prunes us each day so that we may bear fruit that is fragrant and sweet to the lips of Our Father in Heaven. Take care and God Bless.
