Luke 9: 18-22

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say that I am?" They said in reply, "John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, 'One of the ancient prophets has arisen.'" Then he said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter said in reply, "The Christ of God." He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.

He said, "The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for those who are unemployed.

When you first meet someone, it is easy to talk about the things that help them form a positive image of you. As you get to know someone more and more, they may share more of a complete view, showing their flaws and sharing their struggles.

Jesus trusted His disciples and told them that He must suffer. He entrusted them with something that was intimate and meant for His friends. It was no longer about following the Christ Who many spoke well about; it was about following the Christ Who would be turned over to suffer.

I have said a lot of prayers to escape the various sufferings of my life. Sometimes He answers, but many times He answers by keeping me in that moment or situation. In a way, it is His way of trusting me. He shared with those who were close to Him that He would suffer, and in a way, He also shares with me that I would do the same. After all, didn't He share with St. Peter that He would suffer? Didn't He trust St. Peter with the same thing that He entered into?

How often do we see suffering as not only a way of drawing us closer to Him, but also as a sign of His trust in us ... an affirmation of our relationship to Him?

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.

Jesus, i trust in You.
Jesus, i trust in You.
Jesus, i trust in You.

Take care and God Bless.
