Mark 3:22-30

The scribes who had come from Jerusalem said of Jesus, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "By the prince of demons he drives out demons."

Summoning them, he began to speak to them in parables, "How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand; that is the end of him. But no one can enter a strong man's house to plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can plunder his house. Amen, I say to you, all sins and all blasphemies that people utter will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin." For they had said, "He has an unclean spirit."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

"There are no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit." - Catechism of the Catholic Church

The best friend of my mom had a son who killed himself a few days after he was married. Whatever was burdening him brought him to lose hope. It brought him to despair.

I used to be a staff member at a home for pregnant women who had nowhere to turn. One of the women that I worked with told me that she wanted to get an abortion. She moved out shortly thereafter and moved back to another state. We got word a few months later that she got an abortion. She felt like she had no hope. She was in despair.

In today's reading, we realize that satan has no power over God. God's mercy has no limits. His mercy is only limited by our free will, and that is where we see satan's lies come to light.

To the son who killed himself and the woman to had an abortion, I wish I could have told them that God's mercy has no limits, and that we can place our faith in Him... our hope in Him... and our love in Him. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide and lead us so that we may never be led to despair. May we never be divided from His mercy. Take care and God Bless.
