Memorial of the Queenship of Mary
Matthew 22:34-40

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together, and one of them, a scholar of the law, tested him by asking, "Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are homeless during this time, that God may provide them with food and shelter.

Today in the Church is the Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Do you ever get those moments where you completely surrender yourself to prayer?

A few months ago, I was having a rough Monday morning. Usually on my drive to work, I pray the Rosary. There was something about the prayer that Monday as I prayed each decade, asking Our Blessed Mother. It was profound because I knew that she was interceding for me in my hardship.

There was something in my constant, "Mother Mary, please lead me to your Son." There was a trust in her intercession. There was a trust that she would bring my prayers to her Son.

Over 2,000 years ago, Mary was the model of what it meant to love God and love our neighbor. She gave her full, unconditional "fiat" to God to be the mother of Jesus. She visited her cousin, Elizabeth, even though she was pregnant with child at the time.

We know the hardship she went through. We know that we can ask for her to intercede for us.

In a way, she's the perfect model of today's reading: loving God by trusting and saying yes to Him ... loving each of us through her intercession on our behalf.

Mary is the Queen of Heaven and Earth. I want to get to heaven, and if it means learning to love God and love my neighbor even more, through the example and intercession of The Blessed Virgin Mary, I am willing to love.

Take care and God Bless.
