Mark 2:23-28

As Jesus was passing through a field of grain on the sabbath, his disciples began to make a path while picking the heads of grain. At this the Pharisees said to him, "Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the sabbath?" He said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry? How he went into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest and ate the bread of offering that only the priests could lawfully eat, and shared it with his companions?" Then he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath. That is why the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those who are traveling.

It's hard to experience the truly liberating power of the sabbath when you're "working" hard to make sure that you're not working.

It makes me think about those who stay away from confession because they fear that they will sin again. It makes me think about those who refuse to love because they fear they'll be heartbroken. It makes me think about those who choose not to give their tithe because they fear they won't have enough to cover their bills.

In other words, it makes me think about me.

God's mercy is beyond our understanding, so it is good to work on remaining obedient to His commands. In working on obedience, we will come to learn how to love Our Lord, love our neighbor and love ourselves.

O fearful one (once again, that'll be me), rest in humble obedience in The Lord's ways. Take care and God Bless.
