Thursday in the Sixth Week of Easter
John 16: 16-20

Jesus said to his disciples: "A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me." So some of his disciples said to one another, "What does this mean that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?" So they said, "What is this 'little while' of which he speaks? We do not know what he means." Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing with one another what I said, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy."

Dawg's Thought:

Today's prayer intention - for the repose of the souls of those you are praying for.

Can you imagine being there at the resurrection of Our Lord? Can you imagine what it was like to see Jesus beaten and mocked and killed, only to see Him alive three days later?

Can you imagine the despair that they must have felt in those three days? They invested so much to follow this Man who called them. They gave up their lives to follow this Man who healed those in need of healing and fed those who were hungry. They invested so much.

I do not know what it is like to be one of the Apostles. I do know what it is like to try to live a life that is obedient to Christ and His Church. I also know what it is like to invest so much into something only to have it taken away.

"You will grieve, but your grief will become joy ... "

The will of God will triumph. It did in the case of the resurrected Jesus. It did in the case of the Apostles. There was a moment of grief for them, yet God's will ... that which is truly something to rejoice in ... ultimately triumphed.

Lord, open our hearts rejoice in Your will.

Take care and God Bless.
