Tuesday in the First Week of Lent
Matthew 6:7-15

Jesus said to his disciples: "In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

"This is how you are to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

"If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for an end to Planned Parenthood.

If we were to come up with an idea of what a perfect world would look like, would we know the word "forgiveness?" Wouldn't everyone love perfectly?

We don't live in an ideal world. We all know what it means to be forgiven and what it means to forgive. We all know the ache of turning our hearts to God because He's all we got. We all know how hard it is to use our free will to do the most loving thing.

Most of the time, when I pray the Our Father, I don't think about how Christ gave us this prayer. This prayer is a gift in a world that is imperfect. It is a gift that reminds us of God's faithfulness to us and our call to be faithful to Him and to our neighbor.

Never take for granted the gifts that we have been given. Never take for granted this gift we have been given to help us get through the trials in this imperfect world. Take care and God Bless.
