Matthew 13:54-58

Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, "Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter's son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?" And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house."

And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of Lisa who passed away Thursday morning from brain cancer.

There was a dangerous time of my life when I thought that everything was going well spiritually. I thought that I understood God and I thought that He thought I was fine where I was at.

It sounds like today's reading.

They thought they knew Who Jesus was, and through that Jesus was unable to "work many mighty deeds" because of their lack of faith.

We can get that way in our own faith journey. We can take a look at our own lives and pridefully say to ourselves, "I'm doing good all by myself." I know... as I said earlier, "there was a dangerous time in my life..."

I never meant to turn from God. We never do. This is why we must trust in His mercy so that when we enter into these "dangerous" times, we can turn back to Him and allow Him to work mighty deeds in our lives. Take care and God Bless.
