Luke 9:1-6

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, "Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them." Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a safe resolution to the hostage situation in Baily, CO at Platte Canyon High School.

What if God asked you today, "I want you to go to Las Vegas and proclaim the Good News"?

What would you want to bring? I'm sure that you can think of a litany of things that you would want to bring as well as another litany of things that would need to be taken care of. We could easily become a slave to worry.

Christ wants us to live out our vocation to love "freely, faithfully, totally and fruitfully." In today's reading, I can hear Christ reminding the disciples that God will provide for their needs, and therefore they are free to obey Christ's command totally.

In my own life, it's always good to take a look at the things in my own life that holds me back from loving "freely, faithfully, totally and fruitfully" for His glory. Today, remember that God desires us to live our vocation to love and He will provide everything that we need in order to realize our vocation. It is the "evil one" that desires us to be slaves to doubt and fear. Take care and God Bless.
