Thursday in the Sixth Week of Easter
John 16:16-20

Jesus said to his disciples: "A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me." So some of his disciples said to one another, "What does this mean that he is saying to us, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me,' and 'Because I am going to the Father'?" So they said, "What is this 'little while' of which he speaks? We do not know what he means." Jesus knew that they wanted to ask him, so he said to them, "Are you discussing with one another what I said, 'A little while and you will not see me, and again a little while and you will see me'? Amen, amen, I say to you, you will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for a greater respect for life from conception to natural death.

I apologize for my absense this past week. I have been traveling. I'm currently in Ohio and I leave for St. Louis next Tuesday.

Through the resurrection, we have hope. We can look at the crosses we bear in our lives and, through those trials, our hearts can turn to The Risen Christ, Who desires to give us the joy of heaven.

"You will weep and mourn, while the world rejoices."

We must be careful not to get caught up in the "false promises" the evil one has given to this world. These false promises lure us away from the promise of heaven given to us by One Who suffered. The lure is easy to fall into, and we have God's mercy for that.

Today, brothers and sisters, let us not get caught up in the "rejoicing" falsely given to us from the evil one. Rather, let us bear our crosses with dignity so that we can evangelize God's love for us to a world lost in "false joy." Take care and God Bless.
