Luke 4:31-37

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath, and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice, "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-the Holy One of God!" Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm. They were all amazed and said to one another, "What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out." And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those affected by Hurricane Gustav.

"Only say the Word and I shall be healed ..."
"Lord, You have the Words of everlasting life ..."
"What is there about His Word?"

One thing that I know I have a poverty of is reverence for the Word of God. I desire more reverence for His ways and His will. Can you imagine the incredible reverence the scribes who wrote out the Word of God in the scriptures?

Today, we truly stand on the shoulders of giants. We have the lives of the saints and how God's Word affected them. They point us to the power of God.

What they can't do is move our will, and we know that God will not move our will. It is up to us to allow God to work in our lives. It is up to us to stand still and allow God to "affect" us.

As a child of this modern age, it is difficult. Yet, if I desire to have a reverence for His Word and His ways, I know my heart should proclaim, "I know who you are - the Holy One of God!" For me, though, it is a proclamation of faith versus a proclamation of fear.

Lord, I know who You are - the Holy One of God - and I have faith that You can heal me.

Take care and God Bless.
