Luke 17:11-19

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying, "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!" And when he saw them, he said, "Go show yourselves to the priests." As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, "Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" Then he said to him, "Stand up and go; your faith has saved you."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for the repose of the soul of Joe Kimak.

When I was a child, I used to think of God as this magical being. One of my earliest memeories as a child was trying to steal a book with scripture passages in it. I thought to myself that I wanted to be special, and I thought that having the scriptures would make me special.

When I was in the sixth grade, I remember losing my homework. I normally wasn't one to do homework, so this was incredibly distressful to me. I remember making a prayer to God and asking Him to help me find my paper. In return, I told Him that I would pray to Him every morning. I found the paper shortly thereafter.

I remember thinking that it was my little favor to do for God.

I have never forgotten that He helped me in my distress. Of course, now more than ever, I need the prayer. What Jesus wanted to offer me was so much greater than my expectations when I was a child.

I am thankful that He helped my find my paper, and I am thankful that the commitment to pray to Him every morning was more His gift to me versus my gift to Him. Take care and God Bless.
