Matthew 23:13-22

Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You lock the Kingdom of heaven before men. You do not enter yourselves, nor do you allow entrance to those trying to enter.

"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites. You traverse sea and land to make one convert, and when that happens you make him a child of Gehenna twice as much as yourselves.

"Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'If one swears by the temple, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gold of the temple, one is obligated.' Blind fools, which is greater, the gold, or the temple that made the gold sacred? And you say, 'If one swears by the altar, it means nothing, but if one swears by the gift on the altar, one is obligated.' You blind ones, which is greater, the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred? One who swears by the altar swears by it and all that is upon it; one who swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it; one who swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who is seated on it."

Dawg's thought:

Today's prayer intention is for those affected by the recent natural disasters (Hurricane Dean, earthquake in Peru, Midwest floods).

I saw a video this past Saturday of a woman who has entered the convent recently. Many people know her by the name Danielle Rose.

As I watched her farewell speech, she talked about the beauty of Jesus in The Eucharist and how her love for Jesus means loving those whom she loves (she won't have contact with family / friends). It was an inspiring testimony and it made me want to love Our Lord even more.

I don't think anyone desires to lead a life that leads others away from "goodness" and "truth" (or I'm just naive). So, when I read through today's reading, it reminded me that everyday we are called to be witnesses to God's goodness and truth. We need to be open to His grace if this is to happen. I want to be a witness to truth.

It was a beautiful thing watching her talk about her love for Jesus in the Eucharist. Her life and her testimony is inspiring and I pray that we can all continue to be steadfast in accepting His grace and mercy so that we can continue to love and serve Our Lord and each other. Take care and God Bless.
